The iVS5012S is a 2U, 12 bay, iSCSI-SAS/SATA RAID subsystem for iSCSI NVR servers. The subsystem utilizes Infortrend’s 5th generation ASIC400 RAID architecture along with RAID6 protection to provide a high performance fault tolerant storage solution for demanding surveillance applications. The iVS5012S also incorporates Surveon’s Clustered Video Storage Technology (CVST), allowing pooled storage of video information, with up to 30% savings common due to more efficient storage utilization. Additionally CVST allows for thin provisioning and simple plug-in expansion of storage, allowing storage to be seamlessly added to the available resource pool and dynamically allocated between connected NVRs. These features allow the iVS5012S to act as a video repository for an entire surveillance solution, handling concurrent streams from multiple NVRs.
- Optimized Performance for Megapixel Video Recording
- Fault Tolerant & Redundant Hardware Design
- Cableless Passive Industrial Backplane Design
- Supports up to 84 SATA/SAS Drives with iVS2012S
- Maximum Reliability with Hardware RAID5, 6 Engine
- Energy Efficient Feature Set
Central Video Repository for Entire Surveillance
The iVS5012S can serve as a central video repository for entire surveillance solutions. Because iSCSI is IP -based, RAID storage can be located anywhere and store video from NVR servers on the high-speed network. A 30% saving in storage space can be realized since NVRs share a common storage pool.
Scalable Storage Deployment
The iVS5000 series storage solution supports dynamic scaling to aid in the planning for future storage growth while satisfying the current storage needs. Add more storage to the system by plugging more iSCSI RAID devices anywhere onto your network. Flexible drive type and capacity support (SAS, SATA and various drive sizes) allows for the accommodation of current application needs while maintaining future-proof support for tomorrow’s applications. The user management interface is already fully integrated within VMS Client, and only minimal configuration required for expansion. The iVS5012S can be expanded externally, providing up to 84 drives to meet storage needs
Reliable, Fault-Tolerance Hardware Design
Data availability is critical to surveillance operations. The Surveon iVS5000 series storage solution features high-availability hardware designs to eliminate single point of failure, with redundant, hot-swappable hardware components, such as RAID controllers, power supplies and cooling fans. Hardware RAID protection ensures data accessibility even in the event of drive failure. In the event of a power outage, a Battery Backup Unit (BBU) automatically supplies power to retain cached data for up to 72 hours, ensuring non stop surveillance capabilities.
Scalable NVR Deployment
Due to its thin-provisioning capability, the iVS5000 series storage solution is able to add additional NVR sources without the need of complex configuration. Since NVR servers share pooled hard disk resources, the user can add an NVR server without additional storage deployment. The system is able to dynamically allocate available storage to the new NVR, and requires expansion only after the existing storage pool has reached a certain usage threshold. This enables more efficient use of storage resources, and allows administrators the flexibility to deploy as many NVRs as necessary to meet their surveillance needs.
